Family Medicine Mullumbimby
Family medicine is devoted to comprehensive healthcare for people of all ages. At Mullumbimby Comprehensive Health Centre our services encompass all of the general health care needs that might be required by you or your family, from newborns to adults to end-of-life care.
We look forward to assisting you and your family in the management of your ailments, dilemmas and discomforts, whether they be physical, psychological or both.
Doctor’s appointments
Consultations are by appointment only. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time and doctor. The first available doctor will see urgent cases.
We are also a teaching practice facility that fosters the next generation of GP Registrars in 6 monthly placements. This may mean that the GP you want to see may not always be available when making your booking.
Longer consultations
Standard doctor consultations are 15 minutes. Please let the receptionist know if you would like to book a long appointment. Long consultations should be booked if you have more than one item you would like to discuss or if you believe the matter is complex.
Helping consultations run on time
Our centre endeavours to always run on time with consultations, unfortunately this is not always possible. To help us run on time, please ensure that you always arrive 5 mins before your consultation to check in with the reception and allow extra travel time to find parking, as the centre parking and surrounds can fill up quickly.
Urgent care clinic
On the day appointments are available by calling the surgery from 8am onwards until slots are filled. We recommend calling early to secure an appointment.
QML pathology
QML pathology is located at the side entrance of our building, which is down the right hand side of the building if you are looking at the building from the front street (not at our new main entrance). The QML pathology entry door is the 2nd doorway closest to the back carpark.
Please look for the QML pathology signage.
Nurses
If you wish to see a nurse at the centre for any reason, you will need to book in to see a GP first. The nurse cannot see you by law without a referral from a GP.
We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Home and nursing home visits
Our doctors are available for home visits and local nursing home visits by request.
Telephoning your doctor
Doctors in this practice may be contacted by phone during normal surgery hours. If the doctor is with a patient a message will be taken and your call returned as soon as possible. If your call is urgent, you will always be put straight through to the doctor.
After hours care
If you require medical care after hours, please phone the Byron District Hospital on (02) 66399 400. The hospital is open 24 hours and located at 54 Ewingsdale Road.
In emergencies call 000 for an ambulance.
Pathology and Radiology forms
Unfortunately the reception staff cannot reprint any lost pathology or radiology forms. You will need to make another appointment with your GP to replace any lost forms.
Test Results
Your doctor will advise when they expect the results of any tests or radiography to arrive at the practice. You will need to make a follow up appointment with your doctor to discuss your results.
Reception staff cannot give results out over the phone or via email (with the exception of INR results). Please book in to see a GP to request a copy of your results, appointments that are booked in to receive results are bulk billed.
We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
